An observation on the the political season that just completed with Obama taking the world cup.
It has been pointed out that the business journals tend to lead strongly to the left, whereas the news media and colleges are virtually entirely liberal.
This has led at least one analyst to say that "If you've got enough brains to make money, you know enough to be conservative.
Its more than that.
More exactly - if your profession is that of creating wealth and good, you tend to be a conservative. And if you have ever taken responsibility, you recognize the value of a movement that requires taking responsibility.
If your job is to dig up dirt on people and spread it to the world, or to exaggerate facts into sensations, or to preach theoretical concepts of philosophy. Or the students that have an all expense trip into a world strongly influenced by drugs, sex and teenage wildness - all these are expected to be establishment and strongly liberal.
Not for naught do we disqualify someone who makes his living from gambling from testifying. If you are not a participent in creating wealth, your values are bound to be skewed.
And for the record, the "right" and the "left" may officially by a record of where the various senators once sat in the times of the Whigs, but it is an accurate descriptiopn of the verse in Proverbs "The heart of a wise man leans to the right, the heart of a fool to the left."
